Being a member of AHK Norway since 2002, the bi-annual European meetings are something I look forward to attending. You get in depth analyses and perspectives of trends, worries and how German industry positions itself. 2022 was in Vienna and this year we met in Warsaw. The system of German chambers of commerce inside Germany (IHK) and abroad (AHK) have a common HQ in Berlin (DIHK). It is either the largest or second largest such system in the world (Munich and Upper Bavaria alone has 435.000 member companies).
You can find the speaker list and program here: europakonferenz-ahk.eu/speakers.
A great place for networking, during breaks and dinners I was of course able to exchange business cards and pitch for GO-TKM as well as my own project, Green Mentors(tm). Including discussions with dignitaries over canapés and drinks at the German ambassador’s reception in remembrance of the German reunification.
Obviously, when we come together to discuss change and share solutions, it is all about dialogues and emerging tacit knowledge. TKM.
One sad aspect: Germany might have been “too early” to push the Green Deal, from a political point of view – although in reality we are so late that the 1,5 degrees in the Paris accord has become impossible. This is because financial institutions (funds, PE, investors) still prefer ROI over the future of our planet: investments and subsidies still flow to the fossil industry like never before. Obviously not to the benefit of our next generations.
That being said, there are lots of positive developments around the world that will be accelerated and spread world-wide. The future must be green.
